Pygmalion and Galatea

Picture

So I knew that this prompt was going to be about Greek mythology, but I couldn't help but to get a bit excited 'cause I thought it might have something to do with Shaw's Pygmalion. But alas, I was wrong. It's a slightly creepy love story, as you can see by the picture to the left.

Basically, Pygmalion was a master sculptor in Greece. He created stunning statues from rock, mesmerizing everyone who saw them. Soon, he sculpted a beautiful ivory statue that was so lifelike that it almost seemed real. He spent hours in front of it, simply admiring its beauty. He kept it hidden from people so he and he alone could marvel at it. In short, he became thoroughly obsessed with it and treated it as if it were human. He caressed it, bought it presents and gifts, and dressed it with jewels. Eventually, he named the statue Galatea.

Aphrodite, seeing Pygmalion's love for a lifeless statue, pitied him, and so she brought the statue to life. Galatea and Pygmalion lived happily ever after. The end.

A character I would love to bring to life would be Finnick Odair from the Hunger Games trilogy. If you know anything about the Hunger Games, you know that Finnick Odair is a stud. So to be upright, yes, one of the key reasons I would choose Finnick is because I'd like to be able to see such a stud in person all the time. It'd be nice.

But other than that, we can't forget his undying courage and bravery in Mockingjay. Not only does he put his life at risk for the rebellion, but he also sacrifices himself to make sure that Katniss and the others survives.

So here we have a man who isn't just a hunk, but is also a really, really great guy who accomplishes extraordinary feats. That's right, he's perfect.
