Pandora's Box

Pandora’s Box is a story of curiosity and temptation and according to the myth Pandora’s Box is the reason that today the world has so many problems: global hunger, illness, violence, crime, etc. but it is also the reason in the darkness of all of these terrible things we still have a sliver of light: hope. In the story Zeus orders Hephaestus to make him a daughter out of clay. He then gives the daughter to Epimetheus to get back at Prometheus, his brother, who had gone against Zeus’s wishes. With Pandora Zeus gives Epimetheus a box and orders them both never to open the box. One night out of curiosity Pandora opens the box and lets out all the evil in the world. At the bottom, the last thing to come out is hope.

The evil I want to squelch the most is violence. So many people throughout the world suffer from pain but the worst type of pain is caused by violence. The fact that a human being would treat another in such a manner is disgusting and if I could squelch violence I would do it without a thought.
