The story of the Garden of Eden introduces us to the beginning of creation. God created a man, Adam, and placed him in the beautiful garden of Eden. God didn't want Adam to be alone, so he sought a companion for him. God created many different creatures before he decided to create Eve out of one of his ribs. Together, Adam and Eve lived in the bliss of ignorance. They were not ashamed of their nudity, and did not appear to be physically attracted to each other either. However, this all changed when the Serpent convinced Eve to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. When both Adam and Eve ate from the tree, they suddenly became aware of their surroundings and that they were naked. God, therefore, sees that they have disobeyed him and condemns them to a lower life of pain and eventual death.
Although the story tells of the beginning of life, relaying how God created the world in six days, it serves as a larger testament on innocence. It shows the transformation one goes through when he or she is no longer sheltered from the truth. After eating from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, Eve is overwhelmed with a wealth of information she wasn't aware of earlier due to her innocence. But afterwards, she discovers reality in its rawest form and pays deeply for it.
