Pandora's Box

Promethius had tricked Zeus by making him pick the larger piece of meat when it was really full of fat. Zeus was outraged, and swore revenge. He had Hephaestos create a clay woman, Pandora, and Aphrodite breathed life in to her. She was a gift for Promethius' brother, Epimetheus. Zeus gave her a box with a lock, but said she must never open it. Epimetheus was very happy with Pandora, but Pandora was always wondering what was in the box. Once, when she was alone, she decided to take a peek. She opened the box and immediately, death, old age, sickness, disease, and all other horrible things in the world came out. She closed the box only in time to keep hope safe. Zeus' trap to get revenge on humanity worked, and the world was now full of horrible things.
The most important evil I'd like to squelch in the world is violence. Attacks and murders are horrible and pointless. People who were kids and went to school just like us grew up to be killers and killed other people just like us. There is no justification for violence in the world. It doesn't solve anything; it always makes things worse.

This picture is from Doctor Who when Amy creates "The Pandorica" based off Pandora's Box that she remembered reading as a child.
