Pandora's Box
Zeus created Pandora, who was the first women ever made, to send to Prometheus and his brother as a punishment for stealing fire from heaven and giving it to man. Every god contributed something to perfect Pandora. Apollo gave her music, Aphrodite gave her beauty, Hermes gave her persuasion, etc. After being perfected she was sent to Epimetheus, Prometheus's brother, who gladly accepted her. Prometheus warned him about Zeus and his gifts but Epimetheus paid him no heed. Epimetheus had a box which he gave to Pandora and told her not to open. But Pandora opened the box because of her curiosity and all sorts of evil things flew out. Greed, jealousy, anger, the whole shebang. The only one that didn't fly out was hope and that is why even in bad times we still have hope with us. An evil that I would like to squelch is greed. If people were not greedy many people in poverty would be in better shape and the world as a whole would be better. There would not be wars because people would not want so much money or land, and they'd be willing to share what they had and help other people instead of just caring for themselves.
