Cupid & Psyche

Psyche, the daughter of a king and queen, was known as the most beautiful girl in the land. People fawned over her, calling her more beautiful than Venus, the god of beauty. Seething with jealousy, Venus sent her son cupid to strike Psyche with an arrow that would make her fall in love with a monster, forever ruining her beauty. Cupid was so distracted by her beauty that he accidentally plunged the arrow into himself. As Psyche grew older, her parents became worried that she would never married and consulted the gods. They instructed the king and queen to leave their daughter on a mountain top, where she would be carried to her husband. She found herself in a beautiful castle with a husband that only showed himself at night. Her curiosity got the best of her, and she peeked a glance at him during the night, even though she wasn't supposed to. She begs for forgiveness from Venus, who decides to send the poor girl on a number of impossible tacks. Luckily, Psyche receives help from Cupid and a river god. Finally, Psyche and Cupid are able to be together, happily ever after.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is my favorite love story. It involves a man trying to erase his ex-love from his mind, but as the memories of the two flash before his eyes (literally), he realizes he loves her. I can't give much else away, but it's a movie I would gladly watch again and again (as long as I had a ready box of tissues).
