Cupid and Psyche

There once was a king and queen of an unnamed city, who had together three daughters all who were breathtaking in beauty. The youngest, Psyche, was the most beautiful, so beautiful in fact that the men of the city stopped praying to Aphrodite and instead gave offerings to her. Aphrodite, offended, enlists the help of Cupid to get revenge on her. Cupid, like many men before him, falls in love with psyche as well.

Meanwhile Psyche's older sister have both married while she has yet to find love. Her father suspects that the Gods are responsible and consults the oracle of Apollo who tells him that Psyche will marry a terrible dragon-like creature even the gods fear. Thus the king decides it's time to give this girl up and some how Psyche ends up in a house with a lover who won't reveal himself except at night and not allow her to see him. It doesn't work out between them in the end though, because well how could it? Anyway Aphrodite is still pissed so she makes Psyche do a couple things and then she becomes a goddess and ends up with Eros.

Greatest modern day romance? Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan in You've Got Mail. Classic RomCom. Today we talk about Greek Gods and Goddesses and their steamy love affairs, and two thousand years from now they will tell tales of the romance that beat the odds.
